Hermione Granger has done it again.
Emma Watson is known for many things, not just Harry Potter. Over the last few years, she has become a well-known activist on issues like gender equality, which included starting the HeforShe campaign. Most recently, she presented a speech about sexual violence on college campus at the United Nations headquarters this past summer.
Now Emma is speaking out through her clothing choices in order to spread awareness about environmentally-friendly clothing she is and will be wearing during the press tour for her latest film Beauty and the Beast.
Watson has created a Instagram account separate from her personal one at @the_press_tour.
The film’s tour started out in Paris with Watson making this the first post on the account:
How neat is that?
Watson has been a long-time supporter of eco-friendly attire but this is the first time we’ve seen her dedicate her social media outlets to spread awareness to it. And have to say-Miss Watson is knocking it out of the park.
So far the Beauty and the Beast press tour has stopped in Paris, London, and Shanghai and in each of those places, the bar keeps getting higher, not just aesthetically but with the details also. For instance, Watson has also started to include eco-friendly and sustainable makeup products that she is using as well, like the post below.
The fact that Emma Watson, perhaps one of the most famous women in the world, is using her recognition and resources to speak out on this subject is incredible. I also love that she doesn’t present any of this information in a entitled light either, as we sometimes see with some celebrities because of endorsements and such.
The act of making an Instagram account purely devoted to this cause, instead of getting on a platform and harping on we mere commoners with facts, stats, and impossible donations of money shows just how important this cause is to her.
I think it’s safe to say that Miss Watson won’t being slowing down her role in activism any time soon, and I for one am not bothered by that at all. I can’t wait to see what she will wear next, or what issue Watson will be taking on next, but for right now, I will leave you one last Instagram post of Watson looking truly magical in a dress made from leftover fabrics at a premiere in London.
Feeling inspired yet? I am.
